I didn’t plan to start a pregnancy blog series… but becoming a mother brings so much change, emotion, and growth. The Dear Baby, Dear Me series provides a space for gentle reflection after the positive pregnancy test. It shares things I’m learning as a first-time mum-to-be that may help you too if you’re also on this journey.

So here it begins – the first letter. A quiet moment from the very beginning, when everything changed with those two little lines. Did you have a moment like this when you found out?
I’d love to hear your story! Feel free to share it in the comments or save this post for when you need a moment of calm.

Dear Baby,
I found out about you just after morning coffee with your papa. I’d been wondering, but deep down, I already knew you were there – a tiny poppy seed beginning to grow.
One line… then two. A retest because I needed to double-check the positive pregnancy test. The moment when time didn’t stop – but I did. Your papa was overjoyed, and we were speechless, caught in disbelief – a new journey waiting for all of us.
Dear Me,
You met the news with a mix of calm, wonder and a little anxiety. A speech therapist’s interest in wanting to understand, paired with a mother’s heart beginning to grow. It’s the start of becoming a mother – one you didn’t plan for quite yet… but now can’t imagine living without. It’s tender and real, full of excitement and quiet reflection.
And it deserves to be written down, gently, honestly, and with love.
Why I’m Starting This Pregnancy Blog Series
I’ve spent nearly 10 years supporting little voices as a speech and language therapist… helping parents understand early communication and connection. And now, I find myself at the start of a whole new journey: becoming a mother for the first time.
Dear Baby, Dear Me is a pregnancy blog series written in letters. It’s a place where I’ll share:
- Reflections from pregnancy and early motherhood from the professional and personal sides of my life
- Things I’m learning (and unlearning) after that positive pregnancy test
- Little product wins and routines that are helping me
- A journal of thoughts
